What is included in Membership with ATRC? Please also see Membership Options
Unlimited Sessions - this is our most popular membership option and entitles you to everything we have to offer. You can attend as many sessions as you like in any location. You will need to register for your home location, so that you pay the correct amount, but then you can take part in any session.
If you spend more than 25% of your sessions in another location other than your home location we may amend your membership fee to that new location.
One Session per Week - this entitles you to 1 session per week in your home location. You are not able to attend other locations under this membership.
Unlimited Sessions for 1 Term - this is the same as our Unlimited Package but only for one term. At the end of this term (a term lasts for 10 weeks) your membership will cease and you will need to register with us again to continue.
Block of 10 sessions for 1 Term - same as one session per week except that you can choose to have more than one session per week or indeed miss a week up to a maximum of 10 sessions. Once you have used all 10 sessions you will need to renew your membership again.
General terms:
- You cannot share any membership with another person
- You cannot sell your membership to another person
- Under all memberships you are entitled to the additional training literature (training plan etc) thet we provide
- You are unable to get a full or part refund on any membership

How do I join?
You must complete a registration form. Please make sure you know which Location you wish to Join and which membership Option you would like to go for before Registering.
Is there an age restriction?
Runners can be as young as 12 and there is no upper age limit. Please note that if you are under 16 you will either need to be accompanied by your Parent or Guardian or provide us with a letter from your Parent or Guardian confirming that they consent to your participation with Aaron Tyler Running Club. Please be aware that currently, not all of our trainers have CRB clearance. This is something we are in the process of applying for. If you permit your child to attend you must confirm that you understand that not all of our trainers are CRB checked. If you would like to know if a trainer in a specific location is CRB checked please email info@aarontyler.co.uk.
How do I know if I am fit enough to take part?
We have developed a range of Programmes to take into consideration all fitness levels from Complete Beginners to Marathon runners. Please read through our Programmes page to find the correct one for you.
Don't underestimate our courses. You will be worked very hard but we are experts at pushing individuals to their own limits. You will never be made to do anything that you are not capable of.
I get knee/ankle/joint pain when I run? What shall I do? Can I still join?
Yes you can still join. If you experience joint pain please let us know at the earliest opportunity. On your entry form there is a question that asks 'if you have joint pain does physical activity make it worse?'. If physical activity makes your joint pain significantly worse you need to tick 'yes' to that question and then seek advice from your doctor. If your doctor says that you can take part in physical activity then you can join the programme.
Please note that many of us experience slight joint pain at times. This isn't normal by any means and can be rectified but there are differing levels of joint pain and only significant pain warrants a tick in the 'yes' box of that question and a visit to the doctor. Other levels of pain can generally be solved through increased range of movement, improved technique and strengthening work - all things that we can help you do. Please make us aware of anything you have a concern over and don't be put off joining.
What do I need to wear?
You should wear lightweight and nonrestrictive clothing including t-shirt/vest, shorts/leggings, socks and running trainers. In an ideal world you would wear running apparel as it is designed to wick the sweat away from your body keeping your body temperature correct and to help avoid chaffing (ouch!). However, runners the world over wear all sorts of kit to train in and do perfectly well. Don't go splashing loads of money on new kit unless you can afford it. It is also worth wearing layers that are easily removed and carried as you warm up.
Trainers (running shoes) on the other hand are a different matter. If you have run more than 500 miles in your trainers or they are over 2 years old or they are not running trainers, then you need a new pair! We recommend buying trainers from specialist running stores. They will assess your gait and general body makeup to provide you with the most suitable trainer. Good running trainers are not cheap but well worth the investment to protect you from injury. If you have any other queries on this speak to your trainer.
High Visibility Clothing. For sessions that take place in the dark we highly recommend that you wear high visibility clothing. This can be in the form of a high-vis running top, rain coat or even just high vis wrist and ankle bands if you do not have the former. We are currently investigating high-vis clothing and the possibility of supplying it to our runners. We will have more news on this shortly but in the meantime please make every effort to ensure your own safety by wearing as 'highly visible' clothing as possible!
Waterproofs. We train in all weathers so a lightweight waterproof can be invaluable.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Apart from the kit mentioned above we recommend bringing a water bottle and maybe a snack for immediately after if you are not able to eat within 45 minutes of finishing your session.
What if we get really bad weather?
Running is not a fair weather sport and only severe weather will prevent a session from taking part. We have only cancelled sessions in the past when people have been advised not to make unnecessary journeys in their car when it has snowed heavily or there is ice. Heavy rain and wind are not reason enough aloone to cancel sessions unless a trainer believes your safety will be put at risk. You will be informed as early as possible if a session will be cancelled.
Is there somewhere I can leave my bag and keys at sessions?
More often than not our trainers are able to put your car key and bag in their car. However, this isn't always the case so please make sure that you have a suitable place to keep your own possessions. Neither Aaron Tyler Running Club Ltd or any of it's representatives take responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, personal property.

Do I have to attend every session?
No you do not need to attend every session. It is also not vital that you attend the first session of a programme.
I can't make the first session of a programme - is that ok?
Yes that is ok - you can still join. We will email you all of the information you need. There is no need to inform us if you are going to miss the first session.
I don't want to run a race - can I still attend?
Yes absolutely! There is no obligation whatsoever that you run a Half Marathon or 10K or any other race. We have had many runners on our programmes that have not gone on to run a race but have enjoyed and benefited from the sessions immensely. It's great when someone enjoys running simply for running and the freedom it gives you. We choose to work towards races as it helps many people to keep focused, to keep pushing and to feel that great sense of achievement when they complete something they have worked so hard for.
What happens if I cannot attend sessions, e.g due to injury or illness?
Should you get injured or not be able to attend the remaining sessions (or individual sessions) in a course for any reason then we will be sorry to see you leave. In case of injury we will help you get back to a level of fitness at which you can join the sessions again.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer a refund. The price for the course is based on a cumulative package of services and is not broken down into a 'per session' fee. To try and calculate the value of the service you have received against the amount paid and the amount of sessions outstanding would be difficult to impossible and unfair on others.
As mentioned above we are not able to offer refunds for any reason.
I have received the weekly training plan, but don't understand the acronyms
The acronyms used in our training plan are as follows:
RC - Recap. This is a recap on your weekly session
S&C - Strength and Conditioning. These are the exercises found at the bottom of the weekly round up email.
We ask all new members to perform a simple test prior to attending their first session. All we need to know is if you can run 2 miles in 20 minutes or under.
This needs to be a best 2 mile time and not a 2 mile time within a longer run. For example, we are sure you can run two miles on their own faster than any given two miles within a half marathon race.
If you are unable to perform the test before your first session please attend the Group 1 session and if you are able to perform at a higher level we will move you into Group 2. If you know that you can't run 2 miles without stopping then there is no need to do the test as you will be in Group 1.
2 Miles in 20 Minutes or Over = Group 1
2 Miles in 20 Minutes or Under = Group 2
I have a Groupon Voucher, what does it include & what do I do next?
If you have purchased a Groupon Voucher you are entitled to 10 Sessions in a single term period. You can pick and choose the sessions you wish to attend. You will need to register your details with us before you can attend any session.
If for any reason you would like a refund on your Groupon you need to speak to Groupon direct as we are not able to refund Groupon Vouchers.
Your Groupon cannot be shared with another person but you can give it as a gift to another person if you have not yet registered with us.
If you have a Groupon please click here to register.
Who can buy a Groupon Voucher?
If you have ever been a member of ATRC then you cannot buy a Groupon Voucher - they are for new customers only. If you are a Previous or Current Member please contact the office.
I have bought a Groupon voucher but I have a friend who missed the offer. Can they still join the club? What do they do?
If you are a friend of someone who has bought a Groupon voucher and would like to also join our Running Club please email us on info@aarontyler.co.uk to see if we still have space on your desired course.
